The Autumn Equinox2012 happens September 22. Day and night are equal as the sun shines directly on the equator during an equinox. Itis a powerful time when there is a balance between light and darkness. As we enter the sign of Libra we are reminded of the scales symbolic of that balance.
Ancient monuments such as the Great Pyramid at Giza, Cairn T at Loughcrew, Ireland, and the Pyramid of the Sun at Teotihuacan, Mexico, are aligned with the Autumn Equinox. Spiritual ceremonies following the movement of the sun were celebrated at these sacred sites.
During the Autumn Equinox wecan connect with the Divine and receive the wisdom of the spiritual teachings contained in the universe.This inner journey continues throughout theapproaching darkness ofthe upcoming cold ofwinter. During this time we have the opportunity to look at the darkness within us so that we can embrace ourselves in wholeness.
TheAutumn Equinoxis a wonderful time to let go of the burdens that no longer serve us. This process of letting go and letting God lightens our body, mind, emotions and spirit. We get to honor all aspects of self.
Letting Go
Letting goof control is humbling and freeing. The truth is that we have very little control in our life. We only have control over our own attitudes, responses or reactions to people and situations. When we recognize our limitations we are free to allow spirit to be in charge.
Letting goallows us to feel the ease and the release that occurs when we aresurrenderingto God. No longer do we feel the pain of resistance and the heaviness of our burdens within and in our life.At first it feels unfamiliar like we are giving up. Also fear of the unknown can come up. Continueletting go.
Keep breathing, keeprelaxing and continue to focus on the intention ofletting go. Be in the moment knowing that there is no past or future. All we have is this moment and our breath.God always guides us to what is best for us through our intuition.
Thich Nhat Hanh in the quote above demonstrates so beautifully theimpermanenceof everything in life. We are not to hold onto to anything or anyone for “we are…transforming…at every moment.”
Just as Mother Nature reminds us through the falling leaves ofAutumnthatimpermanenceis a part of life whether we like it or not, surrender or resist.
During this holy season of theAutumn Equinox2012 we have the opportunity to look at the darkness within, to let go, remember the impermanence of all of life and to live each day to the fullest.
