What do we want in our heart of hearts? For me it is simply peace. It’s an inside job for sure. Our inner state of being determines what we magnetize in the world. If we feel anxiety, anger, pain, frustration or depressed then our work is cut out for ourselves. There are so many ways to excavate and clear out our stuck energies such as therapy, group support, body work, yoga, Reiki Healing, acupuncture, and writing to name a few ways to inner peace.
Spiritual Practice is important such as prayer, meditation, affirmations. Taking time ideally in the morning to talk to the Divine through prayer is powerful and grounding. Listening to Higher Power by meditating for 15 or more minutes helps us to still the mind and access our connection to God. What a wonderful way to start the day! Affirmations are powerful statements of truth that encourage us to keep the focus on what we want. “I am healthy, balanced and healed” affirms our intentions. Focusing on what we are co-creating with Source, peace, assists us in moving forward instead of focusing on what we don’t want.
Standing at the doorway of our mind, observing our thoughts helps us to catch the limiting thoughts. The observer is our own Higher Self. Then immediately switching our thoughts to what we want supports us further in manifesting our highest good. Energy follows awareness. What we focus on expands. So let’s focus on the good we are committed to creating in our lives, such as peace, one thought at a time!
Writing is another way to get in touch with our inner self. There are so many ways to write such as using a prompt as a topic. Writing “morning pages” to release the stuck thoughts as Julia Cameron suggests in her book “The Artist’s Way” is very cleansing. What still amazes me as I write is how thoughts, feelings and memories come to the surface to be expressed, processed and released. How freeing writing is as a tool in our jewel box, as I like to call my tool box, to inner peace.
There is no magic potion or overnight path to inner peace. It is a process which takes commitment, consistency, patience and focus. It is work for sure that is very worthwhile. The natural result of our spiritual practice of prayer, meditation, affirmations, intentions using jewels in our tool box such as writing will result in inner peace. Then we begin to manifest outer peace in our lives. Do the work and allow the result to flow through us. We then energetically join others whose intention is peace and it expands. World peace is attainable when we begin with ourselves. Together let peace begin with me, each of us.
