Is it just about shopping for gifts for your loved ones? Does it mean going into debt in order to buy everyone on your list a gift? Are you stressing about all that you have yet to accomplish before the big holiday? It’s time to go within to find your trueSpirit of Christmas.
Meditation
Meditationis a wonderful way to go withinto discover what theSpirit of Christmasmeans to you. Yes, most of us are very busy so let’s keep it simple.All you need is about 15 minutes of quiet time, a comfortable place to sit or lie such as a chair, cushion, or floor.
Yourmeditationcan be donein a quiet room, a parked car or just about anywhere. Just make sure that you can relax without distractions or interruptions. This is your special time to connect with Source.
Throughmeditationin the moment you get in touch with who you truly are, your authentic self. You are spirit. The way to connect with your true essence in through the practice of daily quietude.
Intention
Theintentionof meditation is to quiet your mind so that you can connect consciously to your spirit. You are not your thoughts, not your emotions nor your body. You are divine.
The thoughts from the mind tend to be loud and they come from ego. Withintentionin meditation we get in touch with the still small voice within.
In order to hear it we must quiet the mind by focusing on the breath. In and out, moment to moment, breathing and relaxing. Thoughts jump in to take back control, so just bring your focus back to the breath again and again. Even if the entire meditation session is spent bringing the mind back to focus you will still reap the benefits throughintention.
Inner Voice
Listen to theinner voicewhen you pose your question.” What does the spirit of Christmas mean to me?” or “What is the true essence of this holiday season?” The answer may come right away or you may receive it when you least expect it. Just stay open.
Many years ago I posed this same question in meditation. I was resistant to the commercialization of Christmas and I had often gone into debt to buy gifts for loved ones. Myinner voice reminded methat the spirit of Christmas was about expressing my love to God, my family, friends and community.
There are so many ways to show my love to my family without going into debt. “Keep it simple.” was the next message from myinner voice. Ah, the stress started to melt away. My heart opened with excitement in thinking of all the ways to express love like sharing a wonderful meal together
Living your Truth
Living your truthis about discovering the true essence of the holiday season and what it means to you. Give yourself the time, intention and focus to still your mind through meditation for at least 15 minutes a day. Receive the guidance from the still, small voice within you. Bring the guidance into reality with action.
This is aboutliving your truthnot the truth of others or the mass consciousness. Celebrate God, the birth of Jesus, yourself, loved ones and community. Be the essence of love that you are by living love consciously.
Living your truthis personal. Express your authentic self in your unique way during this Holy Season and really be in the joy of the experience.
